Katelyn is out of diapers!

I can finally say that Katelyn is now out of diapers. She actually has been wearing underwear all day for 2 months now, but for the past few weeks she has worn them all night as well. We are very proud of her. I introduced the idea to her at the first of the year, but she had no interest. I know that if I had pushed it, she would have resisted. She pretty much potty trained herself. Right after I had Sadie is when the idea really clicked and she wanted to wear underwear all the time. I thought "oh great, right now?", but it worked out great. I can count how many accidents she had on one hand. She did awesome and it's because she was ready. My advice for anybody willing to listen, is that the first steps are to talk about it a lot and have them be able to wash their hands themselves before you ever start anything. After that, follow your kids lead. I personally think that having your kid potty trained by the time they're two is highly over rated. Don't let outside pressures dictate what your kids should be doing. I think it is funny that when they turn 2 it is the magical age to have your kid potty trained, but most kids at that age don't even have the coordination and skill level to be able to do what is needed to use the bathroom and wash their hands. Well, I will get off of my soapbox and just say that Nate and I are very proud of our big girl.

Saturday adventure at 2 months old

Well I'm still sore today from our family adventure on Saturday. We went up American Fork Canyon to go see the Timpanogos Caves. It was a really steep one and a half mile hike up to the caves. Katelyn did a really great job and was a trooper for the whole thing. She actually walked half the way up and then Daddy carried her the rest of the way. Sadie never really let me take much of a break. Whenever I would stop moving she would start waking up. I finally had to take a little break and sat down for exactly one minute before she was wailing. She cried for most of the rest of the way up until I took her out of the front pack and then she could see where we were going and settled down a bit. We were worried that Katelyn might get scared in the cave, but she didn't. She thought it was really cool and exciting. Now Sadie on the other hand was a different story. The minute we went inside she lost it. I felt so bad for Sadie and everyone in our tour group. I stayed a while back so that people could hear what our tour guide was saying while I tried to calm Sadie down. I finally got her calm in the front pack with the pacifier and lots of clothes to keep her warm and comfortable. Then I was able to enjoy walking through the caves and seeing all the cool stuff. You know the hike is steep when it takes almost as much out of you to go down as it does to go up. We were all exhausted when we got home. Katelyn having a snack and water before our hike. Just hanging out. Katelyn walking up the trail.

Well Sadie is now 2 months old. We went to the doctor today and they say she is looking really healthy. She had to get 4 shots and was really sad about it. Katelyn was almost in tears as well. Sadie is a healthy, big little girl. Length: 24.75 inches, greater than 97 %ile; Weight: 14 lbs 11 oz, greater than 97 %ile; Head Circumference: 40.75 cm, 90 %ile. She has been so cute lately. She really likes to talk to us and has the cutest smile. The only thing the doctor suggest that I do is try to get her to lay and look more to the left. She favors the one side of her head and we want to avoid a helmet if we can. Sadie and her Daddy watching the Olympics.

Sadie's Blessing

Isn't Sadie cute. I finally got a good smiley picture. She is the sweetest little girl. She is so happy and loves her bouncy chair. She just listens to the music, watches the lights, and kicks her little legs to her hearts content. This last weekend we had Sadie blessed. I was a little anxious about everything. It is hard not to be. I was so worried about Sadie going on her white dress, getting seats at church, finding something for myself to wear, nervous for Nate, and so much more. Everything went fine; which should teach me to be calm next time, but I'm almost positive I won't.

Our family pic isn't so great. Katelyn's smile for the camera always comes out as a grimace. Oh well. I guess we did have to brib her to even sit with us to take this picture.
Nate's family was able to come and my parents came as well. Sadie was so pretty in her white dress. I love that dress and I love that it is special to my family. Katelyn and Sadie have worn it now for their blessings as well as Sarah's two girls, Anya and Cara. Sarah and I also wore it for our blessings. So it's special because we all have worn it, but what makes it even more special is that my Grandpa Sorensen picked it out before he died 29 years ago.
We loved having everyone come and spend time with us on Sadie's special day.

I miss you

I'm so glad that Nate is coming home today from his trip. He left Monday morning and will be home tonight. It has been at times very difficult to deal with everything. It makes me realize and appreciate how much Nate does around here. I added the song "I miss you" to my playlist because it says everything I want to say. Here's the words:
To see you when I wake up
Is a gift I didn't think could be real.
To know that you feel the same as I do
Is a three-fold, Utopian dream.

You do something to me that I can't explain.
So would I be out of line if I said "I miss you"?

I see your picture.
I smell your skin on
The empty pillow next to mine.
You have only been gone ten days,
But already I'm wasting away.
I know I'll see you again
Whether far or soon.
But I need you to know that I care,
And I miss you.
