Pioneer Day

For the 24 of July, Nate had the day off. We had a fun day together as a family. Nate and Katelyn watched some of the parade on TV while Sadie took a nap and I went and exercised. Then they came over and met me at the clubhouse and we went swimming. Katelyn loves swimming. We put her water wings on and she is off. She has gotten a lot faster at swimming around this summer.
This was the first time we had taken Sadie and she was not happy. I don't think she likes the cold, wet feeling. Plus to add to her discomfort she was slathered with sunscreen and the sun just kept shining right in her eyes.

She didn't last very long in the water. She took a nice nap in her stroller.

I didn't get to swim much, but Nate and Katelyn had a lot of fun.

It has been nice to have the pool to go to this summer. It has been so hot and has given Katelyn and Nate something they can do together.

After lunch and Katelyn's nap, we headed up to Park City to celebrate Ashton's birthday. It is always nice to go up their because it gives me a break. They cook me dinner and play with my kids. Katelyn loves seeing her family. She loved playing with Rocky (much to his dismay) and Ashton and Zarah. We hope Ashton had a great birthday.

We had a great day together as a family and enjoyed the drive home watching the fireworks throughout the valley.

Baby's First Smile

Last Friday Sadie gave us her first smile. There was no doubt in my mind that she was really socially smiling. Each day since she has given us more and more. I love to see that little face light up. It is amazing how much they learn so quickly. For the first month they are such a blob and then all the sudden they come alive. This picture isn't the best smile, but it's hard to capture one right now on camera. Babies smiles come and go so quick that it is almost impossible to hit the button at the right time.

Differences

It really is amazing how different babies can be. I'll compare some differences between Katelyn and Sadie. Hair: Katelyn had light hair and Sadie has dark hair with a mullet. Due Date: Katelyn came 5 days early and Sadie came 11 days late. Birth Weight: Katelyn was a nice 7 lbs 12 oz and Sadie was a hefty 9 lbs 8 oz. Eating Habits: Katelyn would never eat and when she did it would

take her forever and Sadie eats all the time and is really quick. Night sleep: Katelyn would wake every couple of hours and Sadie wakes up once a night. Digestion: Katelyn would spit up all the time and Sadie never does, but she is one gassy girl. To look at her beautiful little face you would never know that Sadie's nickname in our house is Gassy Gus. It will be fun to see what other differences appear as Sadie gets bigger.

Winner by a nose!

It's official, our new baby, Sadie officially looks more like me. Anjanette and I didn't think she looked like either one of us, but after yesterday, I don't think there is any more debate. You know how sometimes the baby will have the mother's eyes or the fathers mouth, well, Anjanette said yesterday that Sadie has the same inside of her nose that I do. Pretty special huh? Okay, that's all.
