"Missed it by that much."

It was in my grasp today... and then it was gone. I'm talking about my long-standing obsession to woot.com. A while back, my father-in-law introduced me to the wonderful website and while I can’t afford (and usually don’t want) many of the items for sale, it’s always been a goal to get my hands on a bag of crap. Really, it’s the goal of many individuals. For those who don’t know what a bag of crap is, imagine this, a random item (or three) taken from the many different things that are sold on the site. Rather than paying the already low prices, it is sold at just $1 plus $5 shipping. It’s usually nothing special, but people have been known to get TVs out of the deal. Now, I don’t really need another TV, but it’s kinda fun to wonder what would come.

So today was a continuation of what is called a woot-off and I knew I wouldn’t be able to look at it too much because of work, but I wanted to check it every now and then. At one point, I was taking a break and thought I would look to see what the item was when, yep, you guessed it, there was the desired bag. I instinctively clicked the buy button, but the servers were soooooooo slow (from having hundreds of people clicking the button at the same time) so I didn’t get it. Sad day.

So there’s my story… the end.

Sensations

It’s funny how something small can completely change your outlook on the day. I’m not talking about that idiot that cut you off on the way to work; though that can do it too. This is a happy post and I wanted to talk about a recent event that happened to me.

The day started out just like any other day. I woke up way too early in the morning just to go to work. I drove through the dark lit morning the same as any other day. When I got to work, my cubicle was just as I left it the day before. Everything was typical. As the day progressed on, I took a drink from my water (another common occurrence) when I was suddenly absorbed in the memory of my childhood. For some odd reason, at that moment, my water tasted different – not the same water from my Boulder Community Hospital water bucket I use every day, but it had that very distinct flavor you can only get by drinking directly from a squirt gun (don’t even try to tell me you don’t know what that tastes like because I know you do). Why this happened? I don’t think anyone will every really know the answer, but I was changed that day. It was one little piece of excitement that made me a little happier.

I have taken many drinks since then, but have never duplicated the sensation. Perhaps another surprising moment will come to me again soon. Until then, I hope all of you can find your own squirt gun flavored water too.

Welcome to Colorful Colorado

We were so excited to go to Colorado. It did not disappoint either. We had a great time. We left Friday morning on August 22 to drive to Colorado. The drive wasn't actually too bad. Katelyn did awesome and Sadie was a bit upset, but she did a whole lot better then I thought she would. The first night we were there we stayed at Sarah and Scott's house. Katelyn had a lot of fun playing with her cousins. Our trip started out exciting when we were sitting on their couches after putting the kids to bed, and I kept hearing some noise outside. I finally saw something looking in their window and it was a raccoon. We turned on their deck light and their were two raccoons hanging out on the deck.
One even came up to the screen door to check us out.
Early the next morning we all got up and headed over to Chatfield reservoir because they were having a balloon festival. It was amazing. There were so many balloons.

Before most of them took off.

Crazy guy not in a basket but just sitting in a chair.

Sarah, kids, and me watching a balloon go up into the bright morning sky.

This balloon was huge. They said that the ears alone were as big as a normal size hot air balloon. It was cool to see it blown up and take off.

After the morning spent with Sarah and Scott's family we left to go spend some time with Nate's mom. We got to see Lance and Stacy for a short time before they left for the Rockie's game. We had fun that evening going to the park.

This park in Paula's neighborhood was an awesome place to play. I wish they had cool things at our park.

Grandma P flying her plane.

The next morning we hung out until it was time for church. I think Sadie had it in for me. After eating she decided to burp and have a lot of milk come up and go all over me. She fell asleep in Sunday school, who doesn't ;) and then awoke in Relief Society to poop and have it spill out all over her and my dress. It was really fun to clean up. After church we went to stay with my parents. On Monday we went up to see my Grandma and went out to lunch with her. Katelyn had a good time looking at all her stuffed animals.

Great Grandma Thompson holding Sadie.

Katelyn had a great time helping pick vegetables with my mom. We had a good time with my parents and they gave me all these storage containers that I can really use. On Tuesday we headed home.

This was the saddest site of our trip knowing we had to go back to Utah. We enjoyed our quick trip.

Finally Finished

So I finally finished reading Breaking Dawn. It took me longer then any of the others. I think it is because I was trying not to neglect my kids and I knew it was the last one so I was trying to enjoy it. And yes, now that I have finished the book I will in the next few days put blogs up about our trip to Colorado and all the fun things we have been doing as a family. (If you haven't read the book now is the time to stop reading)
(No really, stop reading) I've heard a lot of comments about how they feel about it, but here are mine. At first I thought it was really unbelievable. Everything seemed too perfect and I knew something was going to happen and I was really hoping it didn't have to do with Jacob. If you don't know this, he is definitely not my favorite person. The baby was a huge surprise. I said "what?" out loud. Then when it went into Jacob's perspective it got so much better. I don't even mind Jacob anymore. I liked seeing that part of the book that way. The imprinting made me have another out loud "what?". I was so glad that it wasn't a boy because I hate the name EJ, but what the heck is up with Renesemee. Such a long name to have to read for so many pages and stumble on it every time in my head. I've heard a lot of people say that the end was anticlimactic, and it sort of was, but really, did you want them all to die? Because she left all her characters living, she has so many directions she could start off on. Most likely it will be Jacob and Renesemee, but it would be interesting if she picked some others, that is if she does decide to start a new story with some of her old characters. I'm excited to see the up coming movie of Twilight. In the previews Bella looks about what I picture her, but Edward is nothing what he should be. I was on Stephenie Meyers website after I finished the book and was reading her blog page and was sad to find out that Midnight Sun (Twilight in Edward's perspective) is on a permanant hold. If you want to find out why, she can explain better than I can in her blog for August 28 (http://stepheniemeyer.com/). Please leave me comments on what you thought of the book and how you think the movie will turn out. I didn't realize that Nate was logged on, so Anjanette actually posted this.
